What To Expect

On Saturdays, please plan to arrive at 8:30 a.m. (On Thursdays, we start at 9:00 a.m.) We'll fill out some paperwork, hold a safety briefing, and then get to work.

On Saturdays, lunch is usually provided (check with the volunteer scheduler to make sure lunch will be served on the day you volunteer.) On Thursdays, lunch is not provided, but there is a sub shop across the street.

Please carpool, as parking is limited.

The workday typically ends at 4:00 p.m., with clean up beginning around 3:30 p.m. If you have to leave earlier, please notify the volunteer scheduler in advance.

Please be sure to bring:

  • Work boots or sturdy, hard-soled shoes (NO SNEAKERS!)
  • Work gloves
  • Basic tools (e.g., hammer, tape measure, utility knife, screwdriver, safety glasses, etc.)
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent

Please mark all your tools. Habitat has additional tools, but if you bring your own it saves time.

If you are part of a group, please have your group leader be as accurate as possible about the size of your group. Too many workers at the site can present safety problems.

If you need to cancel a workday, please let our volunteer scheduler know as soon as possible so we can try to find a replacement.

For more information, contact our Volunteer Scheduler at volunteer@capeannhabitat.org or 978-282-7788.
